Deric ‘D-Dot’ Angelettie is an American record producer and rapper. He was in hip-hop duo Two Kings in a Cipher, where he performed under the name D.O.P., along with Ron “Amen-Ra” Lawrence . He was also part of production group The Hitmen, for Bad Boy Records. Sean Combs , Lawrence, Ryan Leslie , and Kanye West have also been members of The Hitmen. He has also been known as D-Dot, Mad Rapper, D.O.P., and Papa Dot.

Deric is the son of Noemi and Eric Angelettie. His parents were born in New York City. In the Madd Rapper song “Ghetto,” Deric described himself as “born in the gutter. Deric is married to author Lisa Angelettie, and has four children.

Deric’s paternal grandfather was Edward James Angelettie (the son of Edward Angeletti/Angeletty/Angelettie and Susie Cook). Deric’s grandfather Edward was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Deric’s great-grandfather Edward was born in Natchez, Adams, Mississippi, the son of Raoul Joseph Angelety and Esther/Ester Cage, who were from New Orleans. Raoul’s father, Antoine Angelety, was the son of Antonio/Antoine Angelito/Angelettie, who had emigrated from Ancona, Marche, Italy to New Orleans; and of Maria Camelita Ancar, a local woman. Deric’s great-great-great-grandfather Antoine is listed as “Mulatto” on the 1870 U.S. Census. Raoul’s mother was either Catherine Lizida Fille or Marie Louise Beaulieu, both of whom were listed as “Mulatto” and/or “Coloured.” Deric’s great-grandmother Susie was also born in Louisiana, the daughter of John Cook.

Deric’s paternal grandmother was Gloria Barbara Smith (the daughter of Frank Smith and Sarah Belle Carrington). Gloria was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, and was African-American. Frank was born in New Jersey, the son of Willie Smith and Effer Banks. Sarah was born in Virginia, the daughter of Clem Carrington and Bettie Johnson, and had deep roots in the state.

Deric’s maternal grandfather was Inocencio/Crescencio Collazo Adorno (the son of Custodio Collazo y Muñoz and Francisca Adorno y Rivera). Inocencio was born in Manatí, Puerto Rico, and was listed as “Mulatto” or “Blanco” on U.S. Censuses. Custodio was the son of Pedro Francisco Collazo y Díaz and María Andrea Muñoz. Francisca was the daughter of Marcelino Adorno and Isabel Rivera.

Deric’s maternal grandmother was Esperanza Sanchez (the daughter of Tomás Sánchez de la Cruz and Carlota Morales). Esperanza was born in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was listed as “Negro” or “Colored” on U.S. Censuses. Tomás was born in Santurce, the son of Eleuterio Sánchez de los Ángeles and María de la O de la Cruz Huertas. Carlota was the daughter of Juan Morales Rivera and Petronila Salaman Carmona.
