Her father, Frederick, who was American, was from an Ashkenazi Jewish family. Her mother, Christine, is Swiss. The two met in Zurich, Switzerland in 1989.
Diana’s paternal grandfather was Robert Sheldon Silvers/Silver (the son of Herman Silvers/Silver and Fannie Cohn). Robert was born in Minnesota, to Romanian Jewish parents.
Diana’s paternal grandmother was Miriam Ferne Levens (the daughter of Harry Benjamin Levens/Levins/Levinsky and Ida Judith Daniels/Daniel). Miriam was born in Minnesota, to a Lithuanian Jewish/Russian Jewish father and a German Jewish mother. Ida was the daughter of Sarah.
