Dick Schoof is a Dutch politician and civil servant. He has been Prime Minister of the Netherlands , from 2 July, 2024 to 23 February, 2026. He has also been Chief Director of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service, from 1 December, 1999 to 1 March, 2003, National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism, from 1 March, 2013 to 16 November, 2018, Director-General of the General Intelligence and Security Service, from 16 November, 2018 to 1 March, 2020, and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Justice and Security, from 1 March, 2020 to 28 May, 2024.
His father was a municipal civil servant. His brother, Nico Schoof, was mayor of the municipalities Akersloot, Limmen, Heiloo, and Alphen aan den Rijn. Dick was raised Catholic. He grew up partly in Hengelo.
He has two children, who are adopted, from China; with his former wife Yolanda Senf.
Dick’s paternal grandfather was Nicolaas Schoof (the son of Cornelis Schoof and Antje Meilink). Nicolaas was born in Blokker. Cornelis was born in Blokker, the son of Cornelis Schoof and Teetje Paap. Antje was born in Hem, the daughter of Klaas Meilink and Grietje Visser.
Dick’s paternal grandmother was Maria Haring (the daughter of Pieter Haring and Geertje Komen). Maria was born in Wognum, Medemblik, Noord-Holland. Pieter was born in Nibbixwoud, Noord-Holland, the son of Arien Haring and Maartje Kok. Geertje was born in Opmeer, the daughter of Klaas Komen/Koomen and Maartje Bakker.
Dick’s maternal grandfather was Wilhelmus Hendricus “Wim” Pommerel (the son of Willem George Pommerel and Engelina Hendrika Maria Mooseker). Wilhelmus was born in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland. He was executed by the Nazis during WWII, for establishing a network of telephone connections. Willem was born in Utrecht, the son of Benjamin Pommerel and Henrietta Halin. Engelina was born in Amsterdam, the daughter of Hendricus Johannes Mooseker and Wilhelmina Maria Scheppen.
Dick’s maternal grandmother was Anna Maria Roovers (the daughter of Cornelis Roovers and Pietronella van den Hout). Anna was born in Oosterhout, Noord-Brabant, to parents who were also born there. Pietronella was the daughter of Jacobus van den Hout and Anna Maria Groenendaal.
