Dorothy Stratten was a Canadian model and actress. She was Playboy Playmate of the Month for August 1979, and Playboy Playmate of the Year for 1980. She starred in the films Galaxina and They All Laughed .
Her parents, Nelly Willems and Simon Hoogstraten, were Dutch immigrants. She was married to nightclub promoter and pimp Paul Snider, who murdered her, before committing suicide.
Her life and murder were depicted in the film Star 80 .
