Doug Flutie is an American professional football player. A quarterback, he played for the New Jersey Generals, the Chicago Bears, the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills, and the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League (NFL), and the BC Lions, the Calgary Stampeders, and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Doug is the son of Joan and Richard Flutie. He was partly raised in Melbourne Beach, Florida. His brother is American-born, Canadian football player Darren Flutie. He is married to Laurie Fortier, with whom he has two children. Doug and his wife established The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, Inc.
Doug’s paternal grandfather was Edward Elias Flutie (the son of Elias Assad Flutie and Emelia Khazoun). Doug’s great-grandfather Elias was born in Turkey, the son of Lebanese parents, Assad Flutie and Katherine Saba. Emelia was born in Lebanon.
Doug’s paternal grandmother was Theda Bara Jacobs (the daughter of John Wesley Jacobs and Nellie A. Palm). John was the son of Wesley Jacobs and Margaret A. Goodhart. Nellie was born in Pennsylvania, the daughter of John Dickson Palm and Alberta Viola Naugle.
Doug’s maternal grandfather was named Omeer Lemire.
Doug’s maternal grandmother was Agnes Boudreau (the daughter of Octave Joseph Boudreau and Rose Comeau).
