Drew Goddard is an American film and television screenwriter, director, and producer. He has directed the films The Cabin in the Woods , which he co-wrote; and Bad Times at the El Royale , which he wrote. He also wrote the films Cloverfield , The Martian , and Project Hail Mary , and co-wrote the film World War Z . On television, he created, and wrote for, the shows Daredevil and High Potential . He has also written for the shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer , Angel , Alias , Lost , and The Defenders ; and directed episodes of the show The Good Place .

Drew was raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He is married to writer Caroline Williams Goddard, with whom he has two children.

Drew’s paternal grandfather was Roy F. Goddard (the son of Ralph Willis Goddard and Frances Margaret Cascoigne/Gascoigne). Roy was born in New Mexico. Ralph was born in Massachusetts, the son of Frederick E. Goddard and Kate P. Woodbury. Drew’s great-grandmother Frances was born in England, the daughter of Joseph Gascoigne and Selina Powell.

Drew’s paternal grandmother was Veronica Barbara Kish (the daughter of Stephen Paul “Steve” Kish and Margaret A. Lehman/Lehmann). Veronica was born in Connecticut, to Hungarian parents, with Czech and German ancestry. Stephen was the son of George Kish. Drew’s great-grandmother Margaret was the daughter of Otto Lehmann and Anna Barbara Lämmerhirt.

Drew’s maternal grandfather was Daniel Thomas Hogan (the son of Thomas Bernard Hogan and Lola Mary Brown). Daniel Thomas was born in Illinois. Thomas Bernard was born in Illinois, and likely was the son of Thomas Hogan and Julia O’Brien. Drew’s great-grandmother Lola was born in Minnesota, the daughter of Thomas H. Brown, who was English; and of Jennie Washburn.

Drew’s maternal grandmother was Reudean J. Lockard (the daughter of Thomas Hendrex/Hendrix “Tom” Lockard and Birdie Tong Bray). Reudean was born in Texas.
