Dylan Sprouse is an American actor. He is the identical twin brother of actor Cole Sprouse , and is fifteen minutes younger. He began his career at the age of six months, then usually acting with his brother. The two, known as The Sprouse Brothers and The Sprouse Bros; their roles together included the films Big Daddy , The Astronaut’s Wife , Diary of a Sex Addict , The Master of Disguise , Just for Kicks (2003), The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things , A Modern Twain Story: The Prince and the Pauper , Adventures in Appletown , and Kung-Fu Magoo ; the series Grace Under Fire , Mad TV , The Nightmare Room , The Suite Life of Zack & Cody , and The Suite Life on Deck ; and the made-for-tv movies I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus and The Suite Life Movie . They launched the Sprouse Bros brand, including a clothing and book line, and a magazine. Over time, Dylan began acting solo, particularly in the films Born Killers , Dismissed , Banana Split , After We Collided , The Curse of Turandot , Tyger Tyger , My Fake Boyfriend , Beautiful Disaster , Beautiful Wedding , Aftermath (2024), and Under Fire (2025); on the series Saturday Morning All Star Hits! ; in the music videos for “Consequences” and “Think About You;” and in the video games Total War: Warhammer II and Kingdom Hearts III .
Dylan was born in Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy, to American parents, Melanie and Matthew Sprouse, who were teaching there at the time. His parents moved back to their native California four months after Dylan and Cole were born. Dylan was raised in Long Beach. He is named after poet Dylan Thomas. He is married to Hungarian model and actress Barbara Palvin . He owns the All-Wise Meadery in Brooklyn, New York, where he is a brewmaster.
Dylan’s ancestry is English, Scottish, German, Danish, 1/32 Swedish, and remote Polish.
Dylan’s patrilineal line can be traced to Tandy Sprouse, who was born, c. 1773, in Albemarle, Virginia.
Dylan’s paternal grandfather was Michael Theodore Sprouse (the son of Guy Ellsworth/Elsworth Sprouse and Opal Fern McCray). Michael was born in West Virginia. Guy was born in Clarksburg, Harrison, West Virginia, the son of William Madison Sprouse and Martha Ann Arbogast. Dylan’s great-grandmother Opal was born in Parkersburg, Wood, West Virginia, the daughter of William Kenneth McCray and Bonnie Bell/Belle Wright.
Dylan’s paternal grandmother was Karen Lee Sammons (the daughter of Herman E./Frank Sammons and Betty Elizabeth Sybrowsky/Szybrowsky). Karen was born in Los Angeles, California. Herman was born in Belton, Bell, Texas, the son of Charles Robert Sammons and Allice/Alice/Alliean Marrs. Dylan’s great-grandmother Betty was born in Ogden, Weber, Utah, the daughter of Danish parents, from Copenhagen, Vilhelm Christian “William” Sybrowsky and Johanna/Johanne Alfreda/Alfrida Barnhardine/Bernhardine Johansen, whose own father was Swedish, from Falkenberg, Halland. The Szybrowsky line leads back to Germany several generations back, and then likely to Danzig, Poland.
Dylan’s maternal grandfather was Merrill Eugene Wright (the son of Obed Wright and Beulah Mae Roe). Merrill was born in California. Obed was the son of Otha Burnett Wright and Lena Spiller. Beulah was the daughter of Benjamin Roe, who was of mostly German descent, and of Mary Elizabeth Metter, whose parents were German.
Dylan’s maternal grandmother was Jonine Rosemary Booth (the daughter of Jonathan C. Booth and Maxine Pearl Rose). Jonine was born in California. Jonathan was the son of Charles F. Booth and Emily Coy. Maxine was the daughter of Carl Wellington Rose and Myrtle Sabria Tucker.
Dylan’s matrilineal line can be traced to his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother, Lydia Purcell/Pursel, who was born, c. 1774, in Fayette County, Kentucky.
