Ed Markey is an American politician, lawyer, and Army reservist. A member of the Democratic Party, he has served as a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, since July 16, 2013. He previously served as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts, from November 2, 1976 to July 15, 2013, and Chair of the House Global Warming Committee, from March 8, 2007 to January 6, 2011.
Ed is the son of Christina M. (Courtney) and John E. Markey, a milkman. He is married to physician and global health expert Susan Blumenthal.
