Edin Džeko is a Bosnian professional footballer. A striker, he plays for Fiorentina, and plays for and captains the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. He was previously with Željezničar, Teplice, Ústí nad Labem, VfL Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Roma, Inter Milan, and Fenerbahçe, the latter of which he also captained. He is the all-time top scorer for the Bosnia national team. He is 6′4″.
Edin was born to Bosniak (Bosnian Muslims) parents, Belma and Midhat Džeko. His first cousin is Bosnian footballer Emir Spahić. Edin is able to speak five languages, Bosnian, Czech, German, English, and Italian. He is married to model and actress Amra Silajdžić, with whom he has four children. Edin is a Muslim.
Edin’s maternal grandfather was named Akif.
