Elgin Baylor was an American professional basketball player, coach, executive, and actor. A small forward, he played fourteen seasons for the Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played in eight NBA Finals. He was assistant coach, interim coach, and coach, of the New Orleans Jazz. He was 6′5″.
He was the son of Ozziel/Uzziel and John Wesley Baylor. Elgin was raised near a recreation center in D.C., which was segregated. He was married to Elaine, until his death. He had three children, including a daughter with Elaine.
