Eliot Engel was an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New York, from January 3, 1989 to January 3, 2021, and Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, from January 3, 2019 to January 3, 2021.
He was the son of Sylvia (Bleend) and Philip/Pinchus Engel, an ironworker. He was married to Patricia Ennis, until his death, with whom he had three children.
