Elize Ryd is a Swedish singer, songwriter, dancer, composer, and show artist. She is one of three vocalists, and a co-lyricist, of heavy metal band Amaranthe. She has also performed guest vocals for American power metal band Kamelot, and was a member of music project Raskasta Joulua. She sings in the soprano range.
She is the daughter of Lena and Per Ryd. Her parents were musicians. Her older sister is singer and songwriter Elina Ryd.
Elize’s paternal grandfather was Karl Ingvar Gunnarsson (the son of Axel Gunnar Valdemar Karlsson and Gertrud Maria Karlsson). Ingvar was born in Gränna, Jönköping. Gunnar was the son of Karl Henrik Johansson and Vilhelmina Berggren. Gertrud was the daughter of Otto Herman Karlsson and Augusta Maria Gustafsdotter.
Elize’s paternal grandmother was Eva Margareta Ryd (the daughter of Carl Olof Ryd and Mary Gertrud Eugenia Eklund). Eva was born in Jönköping, Jönköping. Carl was the son of Carl Otto Carlsson Ryd and Erika Viktoria Björk. Mary was the daughter of Carl Johan Eklund and Emma Lovisa Edström.
Elize’s maternal grandfather was Sven Ossian Persson (later Persson Geys, the son of Nils August Eriksson and Ester Wilhelmina Persson). Sven was born in Nordmaling, Västerbotten. August was the son of Nils Erik Eriksson Kassberg and Maria Karolina Eriksson Brömster. Ester was the daughter of Karl Oskar Persson and Kristina Wilhelmina Jonsdotter.
Elize’s maternal grandmother was Maj-Britt Viola Roman (the daughter of Erik Albert Sixten Andersson and Sonja Viola Alexandra Bruhn). Maj-Britt was born in Landeryd, Halland. Erik was the son of Albert Sigfrid Andersson and Thekla Albertina Fransén. Sonja was the daughter of Carl Edvard Johansson Bruhn and Anna Elisabet Jakobsson.
