Éric Zemmour is a French far-right politician, essayist, writer, editor, panelist, and political journalist and pundit. He has been President of Reconquête, since 5 December, 2021. He was a reporter at Le Quotidien de Paris and Le Figaro, and appeared on television’s Ça se dispute , On n’est pas couché , Zemmour et Naulleau , and Face à l’Info , and on radio’s Z comme Zemmour . He wrote the book The French Suicide / Le Suicide français . A self-identified Gaullist and Bonapartist, he is known for his nationalist and anti-Islam views. He is nicknamed “Le Z.”
He is the son of Lucette and Roger Gilbert Haïm Zemmour, a paramedic. His parents were Berber Jews from Sétif, Algeria, who moved to France in 1952. His father was born in Saint-Arnaud, El Eulma. His mother was born in Aïn-Abessa, Constantine. He was raised in Drancy, and then in the Paris Château Rouge quarter. Éric attended Jewish schools, and his Hebrew name is Moïse.
Éric has three children with his wife, bankruptcy law attorney Mylène Chichportich. Mylène is of Tunisian Jewish descent.
Éric’s paternal grandfather was Jacob Liaou/Justin Zemmour (the son of Haïm Zemmour and Messaouda Saksik). Jacob was born in Setif, Setif, Algeria.
Éric’s paternal grandmother was Messouka/Rachel Zaoui (the daughter of Haïm Zaoui and Oureïda Zemmour). Haïm was born in Tinar, Ouled Sabor, Guidjel, Setif, the son of Jacob Zaoui and Esther Ferraï. Oureïda was the daughter of Makhlouf Zemmour and Oureïda Zaoui.
Éric’s maternal grandfather was Léon Levy (the son of Moshe Levy and Mouna Lévi). Leon was born in Aïn-Abessa, Constantine, Sétif, Algeria. Moshe was the son of Rahmim Lévi and Tefaha Atelan. Mouna was the daughter of Samuel Lévi and Zaïna Atelan.
Éric’s maternal grandmother was Ourida Claire Atlan (the daughter of Chaoune Atelan and Mima Hayoun). Ourida was born in Saint-Arnaud, El Eulma, Sétif Province, Algeria. Chaoune was the son of Liaou Atelan and Camla Atelan.
