Eva Perón was the First Lady of Argentina, from 4 June, 1946 to 26 July, 1952, until her death, as the wife of President Juan Perón . Eva was President of the Eva Perón Foundation, from 8 July, 1948 to 26 July, 1952, and President of the Women’s Peronist Party, from 29 July, 1949 to 26 July, 1952. Eva was the subject of the musical Evita (1976), which was adapted into a major 1996 film starring Madonna as Perón.

Eva was the daughter of Juana Ibarguren Núñez and Juan Duarte Etchegoyen. Her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather were Basques, while her maternal grandmother had Spanish, 1/16th Italian, and distant Portuguese, ancestry. Her Basque roots are from Spain and Pyrénées-Atlantiques, France. She was married to Juan Perón, until her death. He was President of Argentina, from 4 June, 1946 to 21 September, 1955, and again from 12 October, 1973 to 1 July, 1974, his death.

Eva’s paternal grandfather was Francisco Uhart/Duarte (the son of Jean Uhart and Marie Chaldu). Francisco was born in Béhasque-Lapiste, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Aquitaine, France. Jean was the son of Arnaud d’Uhart and Engrace de Bidart. Marie was the daughter of Arnaud Chaldu and Anne Guillemet.

Eva’s paternal grandmother was María Etchegoyen (the daughter of Juan Mancechena and Marie Etchegoyen). Eva’s grandmother María was born in Souraïde, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Aquitaine, France.

Eva’s maternal grandfather was Joaquín Ibarguren Arandia (the son of Martín José Ibarguren Oriozabala and Josefa Joaquina Arandia Galarza). Eva’s grandfather Joaquín was born in Bragado, Bragado Partido, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Martin was born in Amézqueta, Guipúzcoa, Spain, the son of José Ibarguren Otermin and María Francisca Oriozabala Goicoechea. Eva’s great-grandmother Josefa was born in Amézqueta, the daughter of José María Arandia Artola and María Micaela Galarza Ordosgoiti.

Eva’s maternal grandmother was Petrona Núñez Prigotto (the daughter of Antonio Núñez and Pabla Prigotto). Antonio was the son of Antonio Núñez Martínez and María Díaz Becerra. Pabla was the daughter of Bartolomé Luis Pregot/Prigotto y Flores and Josefa Enríquez.
