Fabiano Caruana is an Italian-American chess grandmaster. When he was fourteen, he was the then-youngest grandmaster in the history of the U.S. and Italy. He is the reigning four-time U.S. Chess Champion, and the third-highest-rated player in history.
Fabiano is the son of Italian parents, Santina and Lou Caruana. He is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Italy. He was raised partly in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York City, and also spent time in Italy as a teenager while playing chess.
