Famke Janssen is a Dutch actress, model, screenwriter, director, and animal rights activist. She has starred in House on Haunted Hill , GoldenEye , and the X-Men and Taken films.
She is the daughter of Louise Marie and Josephus Wilhelmus Janssen. Her father was from Venlo, Limburg. Her mother was from Nieuwer-Amstel, Noord-Holland. Her first name, Famke, means “girl” in West Frisian, the native language of the Dutch province Friesland. She has two sisters, director Antoinette Beumer and actress Marjolein Beumer.
Famke’s paternal grandfather was Wilhelmus Antonius Janssen (the son of Willem Joseph Janssen and Anna Maria van der Heijden). Wilhelmus was born in Venlo, Limburg. Willem was born in Venlo, the son of Peter Janssen and Ida Stoot. Anna was born in Waalwijk, Noord-Brabant, the daughter of Wilhelmus Antonius van der Heijden and Theodora Brekelmans.
Famke’s paternal grandmother was named Anna Katharina Berta Weeres. Anna was born in Waldorf, Landkreis Ahrweiler, Rheinland-Pfalz.
Famke’s maternal grandfather was Johannes Martinus Beumer (the son of Johannes Gerardus Beumer and Willemina Geertruida Robaard). Famke’s grandfather Johannes was born in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland. Famke’s great-grandfather Johannes was born in Amsterdam, the son of Andreas Wilhelmus Johannes Beumer and Johanna Georgina Menks. Famke’s maternal grandmother was Maria Magdalena Schoenmakers (the daughter of Everardus Antonius Schoenmakers and Louisa de Visser). Maria Magdalena was born in Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland. Everardus was born in Schiedam, Zuid-Holland, the son of Johannes Casparus Schoenmakers and Maria Magdalena Kalkman.
