Francis Rossi is a British singer, songwriter, and musician. He is the co-founder, lead singer, and lead guitarist of rock band Status Quo.
Francis is the son of Annie (Traynor) and Dominic Rossi. His father was of Italian descent, with ancestors from Atina, Province of Frosinone, Lazio, and Francis spoke Italian during his early years. His mother was of Northern Irish descent, from Liverpool. He has said that he was named after St. Francis of Assisi, because of his mother’s Catholic faith. He is married to Eileen, and has eight children.
Francis’ paternal grandmother was surnamed Coppola.
Francis’ maternal grandfather was named Paddy.
