François Chau is an American actor. He played Shredder in the film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze . His roles also include the shows G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero , Lost , Gemini Division , K.C. Undercover , The Expanse , The Tick , American Gigolo , Avatar: The Last Airbender , and The Penguin ; the films G.I. Joe: The Movie , The Iron Triangle , Rapid Fire (1992), Blue Tiger , No Way Back (1995), Beverly Hills Ninja , City of Industry , Wounded (1997), Godzilla 2000 , What’s Cooking? , Rescue Dawn , 21 & Over , The Honeymoon Phase , and Birds of Prey (2020); the made-for-tv movie 9/11: The Twin Towers ; and the Wing Commander , Starlancer , XCOM , and Ghost of Tsushima video games.
He was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, of Chinese and Vietnamese descent. His family moved to Saigon, Vietnam, when he was six, and, because of the Vietnam War, a year later relocated to France, and then Washington, D.C., U.S.; where François was raised. François is married, and has a daughter.
