A winger, he played for Halmstad, Arsenal, West Ham United,Seattle Sounders FC, Chicago Fire, Celtic, Shimizu S-Pulse, and Mumbai City, and the Sweden national team. He managed Arsenal U15, Arsenal U23, Arsenal, as caretaker; and N5 FC, as joint-manager.
He is the son of Elisabeth Bodil and Roy Alve Erling Ljungberg. Freddie is married to Natalie Foster, with whom he has two children.
