Gareth Thomas is a Welsh rugby player, and television personality. A fullback, wing, and centre in rugby union, he played for Bridgend, Cardiff RFC, Celtic Warriors, Toulouse, and Cardiff Blues, and the Wales national team, Wales A, and British & Irish Lions; as well as for the Wales national sevens team. A wing, centre, and second-row in rugby league, he played for Crusaders RL, and the Wales national team. He is the first Welsh rugby union player to have 100 test match appearances. He is nicknamed “Alfie.” He is 6′3″.
Gareth is the son of Yvonne and Barry Thomas. He was the first openly gay rugby union player.
