Gary Cole is an American actor and voice actor. Often cast as scornful beaurocrats, his roles include the films In the Line of Fire , A Simple Plan , Office Space , One Hour Photo , Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story , and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby , and the series Midnight Caller , American Gothic , The West Wing , Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law ; Family Guy , Kim Possible , The Good Wife , Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated , Veep , Bob’s Burgers , The Good Fight , and NCIS .
He is the son of Margaret, a director of finance, and Robert Cole, a school administrative assistant. Gary is married to interior designer Michelle Knapp. He has a daughter with his late wife, actress Teddi Siddall.
Gary’s maternal grandfather was Willis Albert Grove (the son of James W. Grove and Ida Mae Dorsey). Wilber was born in Indiana. James was born in Indiana, the son of David R. Grove and Alvena Talbert, who was German. Ida was born in Indiana, the daughter of John W. Dorsey and Nancy Billhimer.
Gary’s maternal grandmother was Hazel B. Hartman (the daughter of Clyde Thomas Hartman and Neila/Neala/Nealia Cavanaugh/Cabana/Cabanaw). Hazel was born in Indiana. Clyde was the son of Thomas H. Hartman and Laura C. Neila was the daughter of Francis Xavier Cabanaw, who was French-Canadian, and of Harriet Labadie, who was born in Michigan, to French-Canadian parents.
