Gary Oldman is an English actor, filmmaker, musician, and author. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Darkest Hour (2017). His roles also include the films Sid & Nancy , Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), The Fifth Element , Air Force One , The Contender , the Harry Potter universe, Batman Begins , and its sequels; The Unborn , Disney’s A Christmas Carol (2009), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy , and The Hitman’s Bodyguard , and the show Slow Horses .
Gary is the son of Kathleen M. J. and Leonard Bertram Oldman, a sailor. His sister is actress Laila Morse. Gary is married to writer and art curator Gisele Schmidt. He has a son with his former wife, actress Lesley Manville ; and two children with his former wife, model and photographer Donya Fiorentino. Donya also has a daughter with her former husband, American writer and director David Fincher , who directed Gary in Mank .
Gary’s paternal grandfather was Alfred Ernest Oldman (the son of Arthur Inkerman Oldman and Annie Maria Cooper). Alfred was born in Greenwich, London, England. Arthur was born in Cambridgeshire, the son of John Oldman and Ann Chapman. Annie was born in Lambeth, London, the daughter of William Cooper and Elizabeth Norton.
Gary’s paternal grandmother was named Mona Ethel Howe (the daughter of Charles Newton Howe). Mona was born in Stockton Registration District, Co Durham. Charles was born in London.
Gary’s maternal grandfather was William Henry Cheriton (the son of Thomas William Cheriton and Alice May, possibly Murray). Gary’s grandfather William was born in St. George Hanover Square, London, England. Thomas was born in Westminster St. Margaret, London, the son of Edwin/Edward Cheriton and Jane Chamberlain. Alice was born in Dublin, Ireland.
