Gene Upshaw was an American professional football player. A guard, he played his entire professional career with the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He is the only player in NFL history to play in the Super Bowl, in the same team, in three different decades. Regarded as one of the greatest, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987. He is 6′5″.
Gene was the son of Cora May/Mae and Eugene Thurman Upshaw. He was married to Terri, until his death. He had three children, including a son with his former wife Jimmye Lee Hill-Upshaw.
Gene’s paternal grandfather was Herman Alexander Upshaw, Jr. (the son of Herman Alexander Upshaw and Phoebe Johnson).
