Geno Auriemma is an Italian-American professional basketball coach. He has been head coach of the University of Connecticut/UConn Huskies women’s basketball team since 1985. He was previously assistant varsity coach/head JV coach for Bishop McDevitt HS, and assistant coach for Saint Joseph’s, Bishop Kenrick HS, and Virginia. He has also coached the U.S. women’s national basketball team, during which time his teams won the 2010 and 2014 World Championships, and gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics.
Geno is the son of Marcella/”Marsha” and Donato Auriemma. He is married to Kathy.
