George Latimer is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he has been a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New York, since January 3, 2025. He was previously a Member of the Westchester County Board of Legislators, from January 1, 1992 to December 31, 2004, a Member of the New York State Assembly, from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2012, a Member of the New York State Senate, from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2017, and Westchester County Executive, from January 1, 2018 to January 2, 2025.
George is the son of Loretta and Ivan Stanley Latimer. His father was born on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. He is married to Robin Phelps, and has one child.
George’s paternal grandfather was John James Latimer (the son of William Latimer and Sarah Anne Fleming). John was born in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.
George’s paternal grandmother was Hilda Corelene Jordan (the daughter of Abel T. Jordan and Fanny Francis Augustine Gulston). Hilda was born on St. Croix, to African-Barbadian parents.
George’s maternal grandfather was Joseph W. Miner (the son of Anthony Donato Mainiero/Miner and Josephine Scalzi). Anthony was born in Benevento, Campania, Italy. Josephine was also Italian.
George’s maternal grandmother was named Marjorie R. Roesch.
