George Peppard was an American actor. His roles included the films The Strange One (1957), Pork Chop Hill , Home from the Hill , The Subterraneans , Breakfast at Tiffany’s , How the West Was Won , The Victors (1963), The Carpetbaggers (1964), Operation Crossbow , The Third Day (1965), The Blue Max , Tobruk , Rough Night in Jericho , P.J. , What’s So Bad About Feeling Good? , House of Cards (1968), Pendulum , The Executioner , Cannon for Cordoba , One More Train to Rob , The Groundstar Conspiracy , Newman’s Law , Damnation Alley , Five Days from Home , which he also directed; From Hell to Victory , Battle Beyond the Stars , Your Ticket Is No Longer Valid , Race for the Yankee Zephyr , and The Tigress (1992); and the series Banacek and The A-Team .

He was the son of Vernelle, a music teacher and school music supervisor, and George William Peppard, Sr., a building contractor. His father was born in Truro, Colchester County, Nova Scotia, Canada. His mother was born in Dayton, Ohio. George had two children with his former wife Helen Davies; and a son with his former wife, actress Elizabeth Ashley.

George’s paternal grandfather was William Moore Peppard (the son of John Peppard and Sarah G. Davis). William was born in Debert, Colchester County, Nova Scotia, Canada. John was the son of John Peppard, whose parents were emigrants from County Louth and County Donegal, respectively, in Ireland; and of Jane Moore, whose parents were also Irish. George’s great-grandmother Sarah was the daughter of William Davis and Margaret McGenan.

George’s paternal grandmother was Ada McElhinney (the daughter of Thomas B. McElhinney and Lucy Ann Fisher). Ada was born in Masstown, Colchester County, Nova Scotia, Canada, and had partly deep roots in the U.S. Thomas was the son of Samuel McElhinney and Isabel Wilson. Lucy was the daughter of Alexander Fisher and Phoebe Ann Brenton, whose father was Scottish, and whose maternal grandparents were from Ireland and England, respectively.

George’s maternal grandfather was Christian Forrer Rohrer (the son of Samuel H. Rohrer and Rebecca Wise). Christian was born in Montgomery County, Ohio, and had deep American roots. Samuel was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, of Pennsylvania Dutch (German) descent, the son of Christian Rohrer and Maria Anna Forrer. Maria was from a Mennonite family. George’s great-grandmother Rebecca was born in Pennsylvania, the daughter of John Jacob Wise and Catharine Christina Kennedy.

George’s maternal grandmother was Irene Dell Newcom (the daughter of Edward F. Newcom and Cynthia Irvin). Irene was born in Montgomery County, Ohio. Edward was the son of Edward Newcom and Elizabeth Grimes. Cynthia was the daughter of Moses P. Irvin and Rachel Tibbals, and had deep roots in the U.S.
