Georges Vézina was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. A goaltender, he played for the Montreal Canadians of the National Hockey Association (NHA) and the National Hockey League (NHL). He was nicknamed “Chicoutimi Cucumber.”

He was the son of Clara and Georges-Henri Vézina, a baker. Georges was married to Marie-Adélaïde-Stella Morin, until his death, with whom he had two children. He opened a tannery in Chicoutimi.

Georges’ paternal grandfather was Jean Vézina (the son of Francois Vezina and Marie Claire Moisan). Francois was born in Québec, the son of Jean Charles Vezina and Marie-Christine Quentin.

Georges’ paternal grandmother was Eleonore Laberge (the daughter of André Laberge and Angelique Villenve). André was born in Québec, the son of Pierre Laberge and Marie Rosalie Girard.

Georges’ maternal grandfather was Louis Belley (the son of Francois Belley Bailey and Marie Adele Perron). Francois was born the son of Louis Moise Belley and Marguerite Tremblay. Marie was born in Québec, the daughter of Antoine Perron and Marie Lagrange Imbault.
