Gina Raimondo is an American politician, and venture capitalist. A member of the Democratic Party, she was Treasurer of Rhode Island, from January 4, 2011 to January 6, 2015, Governor of Rhode Island, from January 6, 2015 to March 2, 2021, Chair of the Democratic Governors Association, from December 1, 2018 to December 4, 2019, and U.S. Secretary of Commerce, from March 3, 2021 to January 20, 2025.
She is the daughter of Josephine (Piro) and Joseph Raimondo. Gina is married to Andrew Kind Moffit, with whom she has two children.
Gina’s paternal grandfather was Tommaso Augusto Raimondo (the son of Giovanni Raimondo and Mariantonia Parente). Tomasso was born in Grazzanise, Provincia di Caserta, Campania, Italy. Giovanni was the son of Tommaso Raimondo and Teresa Petrella. Mariantonia was the daughter of Pasquale Parente and Carmina Di Vito.
Gina’s paternal grandmother was named Angelina Grilla. Angelina was Italian.
