Glenn Hall was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. A goaltender, he played for the Detroit Red Wings, the Chicago Black Hawks, and the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was named one of the 100 greatest people to ever play the game of NHL Hockey in 2017. He was nicknamed “Mr. Goalie.”

Glenn was the son of Agnes Ann Simpson (Cruickshank) and Henry William “Hank” Hall. His father was born in Eden, Marshall County, South Dakota, U.S., to Austrian parents. His mother was born in Burr, Saskatoon Census Division, Saskatchewan, to Scottish parents.

Glenn’s paternal grandfather was Anton Heil/Hall (the son of Joannes/Johann Hall/Heil and Susanna Lackner). Anton was born in Walbersdorf, Mattersburg Bezirk, Burgenland.
