Glenn Youngkin is an American businessperson and politician. A Republican, he was Governor of Virginia, from January 15, 2022 to January 17, 2026. He is 6′5″.

He is the son of mother Ellis, a nurse practitioner and professor of nursing, and father Carroll Wayne Youngkin, who had played college basketball, and worked in finance and accounting. He was raised in Virginia Beach during his teenage years. He is married to Suzanne Schulze, with whom he has four children. The couple co-founded Holy Trinity Church.

Glenn’s patrilineal line can be traced to Johann Heinrich Junghen Yungken II, who was born, c. 1717, in Siegen, Hessen, Germany, the son of Johannes Heinrich Junghen and Elisabeth Wagner.

Glenn’s paternal grandfather was Glenn Youngkin (the son of Ulysses Grant Youngkin and Clara Emma/Emmaline Butrum/Buttram). Glenn’s grandfather Glenn was born in Iowa. Ulysses was the son of Joseph Youngkin and Elizabeth Jane Smith. Clara was the daughter of William Emberson Butrum and Elizabeth Smith.

Glenn’s paternal grandmother was Marian Pauline Maynard (the daughter of Frank Otis Maynard and Etta G. Rains). Marian was born in Iowa. Frank was the son of Alvin Alley Maynard and Marion Matilda Pierce. Etta was the daughter of Thomas Rains and Mary Belle Adkins.
