Hasan Minhaj is an American comedian, writer, political commentator, actor, and television personality. He was the host of the show Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj from 2018 to 2020, which he co-created and wrote for; was a corresondent and guest host on The Daily Show ; and has hosted the podcast Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know . He has had acting roles in the films Rough Night , Most Likely to Murder , The Spy Who Dumped Me , No Hard Feelings , Haunted Mansion (2023), Babes , It Ends with Us , and Tron: Ares ; on the shows The Legend of Neil , Disaster Date , State of Georgia , Failosophy , and The Morning Show ; and on the podcast Batman Unburied .
He is the son of Seema Usmani and Najme Minhaj, an organic chemist. His parents are Indian emigrants. His father’s family is from Chitrakoot, and is of Brijwasi background. His father’s family owned several elephants. His mother is from Aligarh, and is Pahstun [Rohilla]. His family is Muslim. He is fluent in Hindi and Urdu.
Hasan is married to Beena Patel, with whom he has two children.

Hasan’s paternal grandfather was named Minhaj Uddin.
Hasan’s paternal grandmother was named Saroor Jahan Begum (the daughter of Sibghat Ullah). Sibghat was born in Sherkot, Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. Sibghat was born in Bijnor. He may have been a Sheikh, a group of Indian Muslims in the north, who claimed direct descent from the prophet Muhammad.
