Hasan Piker, also known as HasanAbi, is a Turkish-American online/Twitch streamer, YouTuber, influencer, and left-wing political commentator. He was a broadcast journalist and producer at The Young Turks , and wrote columns for HuffPost. He is one of the most-viewed and -subscribed-to Twitch streamers, covering news, video games, and politics.
Hasan was born in New Jersey, to Turkish parents, and was raised in Istanbul, Turkey for a time, before moving back to the U.S., to Miami, Florida for college. His father, Mehmet Behçet Piker, is a political scientist and economist; Mehmet is a founding member of the Turkish right-wing Future Party, and was on the Board of Directors, and Vice-President, of industrial and financial conglomerate Sabancı Holding. His mother, Ülker Sedef (Uygur), is an art and architectural historian. His uncle is political commentator Cenk Uygur . Hasan was raised Muslim.
He has said that he has roots in Thessaloniki and Crete, in Greece.
