Heidi Montag is an American television personality, singer, fashion designer, and author. She is known for appearing on reality shows Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and The Hills .
She is the daughter of Darlene and Bill Montag. Her mother and stepfather Tim owned The Timberline restaurant. Her sister, television personality Holly Montag, founded a women’s rehabilitation facility. Her surname, Montag, means “Monday” in German.
Heidi is married to reality television personality and politician Spencer Pratt, with whom she has two children.
Heidi’s paternal grandfather was Louis Montag (the son of Joseph Montag and Anna Elise Dagenfohr). Louis was born in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio. Joseph was born in Austria, the son of Frances Beech. Anna was born in Cincinnati, the daughter of German parents, Johann Wilhelm Dagenfohr and Elizabeth “Lizzetta” Bierman, who were from Hanover, Prussia.
Heidi’s paternal grandmother was Elizabeth McGrath (the daughter of William McGrath and Elizabeth Fitzgerald). Heidi’s grandmother Elizabeth was born in Connecticut, to parents who were also born in the state.
Heidi’s maternal grandfather was Cresson Albert VanWinkle (the son of Cresson Albert VanWinkle and Lola Irene Pierce). Lola was born in Brockton, Plymouth, Massachusetts, the daughter of Charles Warren Pierce and Mildred Amanda Eisenhauer, who was from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada; her ancestry traced to some of the first settlers in Nova Scotia, in the mid 1750s.
Heidi’s maternal grandmother was Dorothy Mae Blair (the daughter of Jesse Robert Blair and Josie Willa Buster). Dorothy was born in Arkansas. Jesse was born in Brownsville, Edmonson, Kentucky, the son of James David Blair and Nancy Susan Kerr. Heidi’s great-grandmother Josie was born in Kentucky, the daughter of Allen Morton Buster and Virgina Ann Elizabeth Tinsley.
