Hunter Doohan is an American actor, writer, and director. He is known for his roles on the shows Truth Be Told , Your Honor , Wednesday , and Daredevil: Born Again , and in the film The Wilderness (2025).
His father was Australian professional tennis player Peter Doohan (Peter Leslie Doohan), who was born in Newcastle. Hunter was raised mostly in the American South, where his father coached tennis, and primarily in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Hunter is married to producer Fielder Jewett.
Hunter’s paternal grandfather was Paul Leslie Doohan (the son of Leslie/Lesley Errol Doohan and Ethel May Barden). Hunter’s great-grandfather Leslie was born in Singleton, New South Wales, Australia, the son of Michael Doohan, whose parents were Irish emigrants, from County Clare; and of Annie Bridgett “Nance” Whitten/Whitton, whose parents were Irish emigrants from County Tipperary. Hunter’s great-grandmother Ethel was the daughter of William Barden, whose father was English, from Sussex; and of Sarah Jane Barker, whose parents were also English, from Staffordshire and Kent, respectively.
Hunter’s paternal grandmother was Beryl Thelma Vial (the daughter of Bernard Patrick Vial and Eileen Rowan). Bernard was born in Wickham, New South Wales, Australia, the son of Peter Edwin Vial, whose father was English, from Somerset, and whose mother was Irish, from Navan, County Meath; and of Winifred Mary Colgan, whose parents were also Irish. Hunter’s great-grandmother Eileen was born in New South Wales, the daughter of Frederick Timothy Rowan, whose parents were Irish, from Clare and Donegal, respectively; and of Janet Hogan, whose mother was from Fife, Scotland, and whose father likely was Irish.
Hunter’s maternal grandfather was Dr. Ernest Haven “Sonny” Harper (the son of Ernest Haven Harper and Anna Beatrice DesLauriers). Sonny was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and had deep roots in North America. Hunter’s great-grandfather Ernest was born in Arkansas, the son of Ernest Franklin Harper and Alberta Ellen “Birdie” Haven. Anna was born in Kankakee, Illinois, the daughter of Alfred “Fred” DesLauriers, whose parents were Canadian; and of Catharine “Killeen” Grant, whose father, and maternal grandparents, were also Canadian. Anna was of French-Canadian descent, with roots in Québec.
Hunter’s maternal grandmother was Mary Louise Suddreth (the daughter of David Theodore Suddreth and Mary Lou Cooper). Hunter’s grandmother Mary Louise was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to parents from Tennessee, and had deep roots in the U.S. David was born in McMinn, the son of Millard Theodore Suddreth and Iowa Henrietta Hyatt. Hunter’s great-grandmother Mary Lou was born in Copperhill, Polk, the daughter of William Edward Cooper and Nancy Ellen Ballew.
