Ian Brennan is an American screenwriter, director, and actor. He co-created the shows Glee , for which he was a narrator; Scream Queens , The Politician , Hollywood , Monster , and The Watcher ; and was a judge and narrator on the show The Glee Project . He also directed episodes of, and wrote for, Glee , Scream Queens , The Politician , and Monster , and wrote for Hollywood and The Watcher , as well as for Ratched and Halston . He appeared in the films Save the Last Dance 2 and Cooties , which he co-wrote. He often works with Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy .
His father was a Paulist priest, and was of Irish descent. His mother has German ancestry. Ian is married to actress Trilby Glover, with whom he has two children.
Ian’s maternal grandfather was Herman George Kinzelman (the son of Herman George Kinzelman and Lula Louise Scherb). Ian’s grandfather Herman was born in Ohio. Ian’s great-grandfather Herman was born in Arbon, Thurgau, Switzerland, the son of Louis Kinzelman and Emma Deltrich/Dietrich. Lula was born in Missouri, the daughter of John Adam Scherb, whose parents were German; and of Louisa/Louise Dahl/Doll, whose parents were also German.
Ian’s maternal grandmother was Charlotte T. Baumbusch/Baumbush (the daughter of Albert Elmer Baumbusch and Theresa Emma Brehl). Charlotte was born in Ohio. Albert was born in Ohio, to parents from Germany, Markus Baumbusch and Rosa Zentgraf. Theresa was born in Ohio, the daughter of John P. Brehl, whose parents were German, and of Theresa A. Trautman, whose parents were also German.
