Ian Curtis was a British musician, singer, and songwriter. He was the lead vocalist, guitarist, and lyricist of post-punk/rock band Joy Division.
Ian was the son of Doreen M. and Ernest Kevin Curtis. He grew up in a working-class household in Macclesfield. He was married to Deborah Woodruff, until his death, with whom he had a daughter.
Ian’s paternal grandfather was Joseph Robert Curtis (the son of James Curtis and Mary Hanley). James was from Kilmaloge, County Tipperary, Ireland, the son of James Curtis. Mary was born in Cambridgeshire.
