Ian Kinsler is an American professional baseball player. A second baseman, he played for the Texas Rangers, the Detroit Tigers, the Los Angeles Angels, the Boston Red Sox, and the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Ian is the son of Kathy and Howard Kinsler. His father is Jewish, the son of German Jewish parents who had moved to the U.S. in the 1930s to avoid the Nazi regime. His mother is Catholic, of half Portuguese Azorean and half French-Canadian descent.
Ian identifies as Jewish. He is eligible to play for the Israeli National team and has considered doing so. He became an Israeli citizen in 2020.
Ian is married to Tess Brady, with whom he has two children.
Ian’s paternal grandfather was named Benjamin Künstlich.
Ian’s paternal grandmother was named Rose.
Ian’s maternal grandfather was Arthur Charles Motta (the son of John Motta and Conceicao Pimentel). Arthur was born in Massachusetts, to Portuguese Azorean parents. Conceicao was the daughter of Jacintho Cabral Pimental and Rosa C. C. Pimental.
Ian’s maternal grandmother was Lorraine Rita Langlois (the daughter of Ralph Langlois and Laura N. Coutu). Lorraine was born in New Jersey, of French-Canadian descent. Ralph was born in Massachusetts, the son of Moise Langlois and Victoria Benoit Bedard. Laura was born in Rhode Island, the daughter of Henry J. Gladue and Matilda Fortin.
