Ian Woosnam is a Welsh professional golfer. He is known for winning the 1991 Masters Tournament, and spending 50 weeks as world number one in the early 1990s. He is nicknamed “Woosie.”
Ian was born in Oswestry, an English town on the border with Wales, the son of Joan and Harold Woosnam, a Welsh farmer. His surname, Woosnam, is traditionally associated with the Welsh border regions, particularly the historic county of Montgomeryshire, now part of Powys.
He is a distant cousin of English actress Alice Eve , who is a Woosnam descendant. Ian is married to Glendryth Pugh, with whom he has three children.
