Inés Arrimadas is a Spanish politician. She has been Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of Catalonia, from 2 October, 2015 to 20 May, 2019, Spokesperson of the Citizens Group in the Congress of Deputies, from 21 May, 2019 to 17 August, 2023, and Leader of the Citizens Party, from 14 March, 2020 to 15 January, 2023; as well as, a Member of the Parliament of Catalonia, from 25 November, 2012 to 20 May, 2019, and a Member of the Congress of Deputies, from 21 May, 2019 to 17 August, 2023.
Inés’ parents, Inés García López Rufino Arrimadas García, are natives of Salmoral, Salamanca. She has two children with her former husband, politician Xavier Cima i Ruiz.
Inés’ patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to her third great-grandfather, Lorenzo Arrimadas San Martín, of Palencia.
Inés’ paternal grandparents were Eustaquio Arrimadas Alonso (the son of Lorenzo Arrimadas Martín and Isabel Alonso) and Marina García Martín (the daughter of parents surnamed García and Martín). Lorenzo was the son of Telesforo Arrimadas Alconada and Inés Martín García.
Inés’ maternal grandparents were surnamed García and López.
