Ingmar’s patrilineal line can be traced to Henrik Carl Bergman, who was born, c. 1690.

Ingmar’s paternal grandfather was Axel Vilhelm Bergman (the son of Henrik/Henric Bergman and Erika/Erica Augusta Agrell). Axel was born in Järvsö, Ljusdal, Gävleborg County, Hälsingland. Ingmar’s great-grandmother Erika was born in Nikolai, Stockholm, the daughter of Erik Agrell/Olsson, a vicar, and of Elsa Margareta Hermanni/Hermarmani. Elsa’s father was chief accountant Hieronymus Emanuel Hermanni, from a family of merchants. Through this line, Ingmar was a descendant of noble families Bröms, Stockenström, and Ehrenskiöld, clergy families of Swedish and Swedish-Finnish origin, and burghers of Swedish and German origin.

Ingmar’s paternal grandmother was Alma Katarina/Catharina Eneroth (the daughter of Fredrik/Fredric Eneroth and Katarina/Catarina Matilda Karolina/Carolina Sjöström). Alma was born in Gavleborg. Fredrik was born in Bjartra, Vasternorrland, the son of Leonard/Leonhard Eneroth and Karin/Katarina/Carin Elisabet Holmgren. Ingmar’s great-grandmother Katarina was born in Gävle, Gävleborgs län, the daughter of Pehr Gustaf Sjöström and Karolina/Carolina Lovisa Nylén/Nyhlen. The Eneroth family descended from the noble families Flach and de Frese.

Ernst was born in Härnösand, Västernorrland, the son of Per/Pehr Calwagen/Calvagen and Kristina/Christina Margareta/Margreta Norrbom. He was a lector of German and English. Ingmar’s great-grandmother Charlotta was born in Harnosand, the daughter of Johan Jakob/Jacob Carsberg and Dorotea Vilhelmina/Wilhelmina Norrbom. Johan was descended from a merchant, Paul Calwagen, who emigrated from Holland to Karlshamn, Sweden in the 1600s. Through his Calwagen line, Ingmar’s ancestors included the noble families Tigerschiöld and Weinholz, and the Bure family, and court painter Laurens van der Plas.
