He is the son of Gillian and Peter Gruffudd. Ioan is married to Bianca Wallace. He has two children with his former wife, actress Alice Evans; and a daughter with Bianca. His name, Ioan Gruffudd, is the Welsh language version of John Griffith. Ioan is fluent in Welsh.
