Irfaan Ali is a Guyanese politician. He has served as President of Guyana , since 2 August, 2020, as well as, Minister of Housing and Water, from 7 January, 2009 to 20 May, 2015, and Chairman of the Caribbean Community, from 1 January, 2024 to 30 June, 2024. He is the second Muslim head of state in the Americas, after Noor Hassanali of Trinidad and Tobago.
His parents are educators. Irfaan is from a Muslim family. He was partly raised on the island of Leguan. He is married to Arya Ali, with whom he has three children.
