Ivan Rakitić is a Croatian and Swiss professional footballer. A midfielder, he played for Nordstern Basel, FC Basel II, FC Basel, Schalke 04, Sevilla, Barcelona, Al-Shabab, and Hajduk Split, as well as the Swiss national team and the Croatia national team.
Ivan is the son of Kata and Luka Rakitić. His parents are Croatian. Ivan’s father is from Sikirevci, Croatia, and his family is Šokci. Ivan’s mother is from a small village near Žepče, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His parents moved to Switzerland due to the growing tension in Yugoslavia before the war, and after his father got a job at a building site in Möhlin, Switzerland.
Ivan is married to Raquel Mauri, who is Spanish. The couple has two children.
