During his interview on Inside the Actors Studio , 2002, Jack’s father Dennis stated that he has Irish and Cajun ancestry. It is not clear where this Cajun lineage may originate from. None of Dennis’s grandparents or great-grandparents were born in Louisiana, the state that is home to Cajun culture.

Jack’s patrilineal line can be traced to Walter Simpson Quaid, who was born, c. 1780, in Kilfinny, County Limerick, Ireland.

Jack’s paternal grandfather was William Rudy Quaid (the son of William Jessie/Jesse Quaid and Grace Dakota Corbett). Jack’s grandfather William was born in Oklahoma. Jack’s great-grandfather William was born in Texas, the son of John Thomas Quaid and Martha Louisa Lola Ozment. Grace was born in South Dakota, the daughter of Robin Corbett and Edna Greener.

Jack’s paternal grandmother was Juanita Bonniedale “Nita” Jordan (the daughter of George Waymon Jordan and Ollie Lula French). Juanita was born in Texas. George was born in Tennessee, the son of Nathan James Hezicar Henry Clay Jordan and Martha Ellen Austin. Michael was born in New York, of ethnic Rusyn/Ruthenian descent, the son of Orest J. Hyra, who was born in Zdynia, Poland; and of Anna “Annie” Durniak/Durkin, who was born in Pennsylvania, to immigrant parents, from Hańczowa, Poland. Jack’s great-grandmother Mary was born in Connecticut, to ethnic Polish parents, from Kaunas, Lithuania, Michael Jackowitz/Jackiwicz/Jackewicz and Petronella.

Jack’s maternal grandmother was Susan Duggan (the daughter of William Edwin Duggan and Margaret Mary Ryan). Susan was born in New York. William was born in New York, the son of Michael John Duggan, who was Irish, with at least partial roots in Macroom, Cork; and of Matilda Dolz, who was born in New York, to German parents. Jack’s great-grandmother Margaret was born in New York, the daughter of Thomas Timothy Ryan, who was born in Elmhurst, New York, to Irish parents, with roots in O’Briensbridge, County Clare and Clonmel, Tipperary, respectively; and of Emily Louise McManus, who herself was born in New York, to an Irish father, and to a mother who was also born in the British Isles. Emily’s sister, Lucille Ryan, had a radio show broadcast across Europe, My Gal Saturday .

Jack is a first cousin, three times removed, of performer Gene Autry, known as The Singing Cowboy. Jack’s paternal great-great-great-grandparents, Andrew Clinton Ozment and Margaret Malinda Pierce, were the maternal grandparents of Gene Autry.

Jack’s paternal great-great-great-great-great-grandparents, Silas Ebenezer Moore and Mourning Dumas Folsom, were said to have been of partially and/or fully Choctaw Native American ancestry. It is not clear if this is accurate.
