Jalen Hurts is an American professional football player. A quarterback, he plays for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He was voted Super Bowl MVP for Super Bowl LIX (2025).
He is the son of Pamela and Averion Hurts, who was a football coach at Channelview High School. His brother, Averion, has played college football. Jalen is married to Bryonna “Bry” Rivera Burrows. He is a Baptist.
Jalen is a third cousin, once removed, of dancer Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss. Jalen’s paternal great-great-great-grandparents, Eddie Boss and Georgiana Foxhall, were also Stephen’s maternal great-great-grandparents.
Jalen’s paternal grandfather was Lee Edward Hurts (born Elijah Hurts, Jr., the son of Elijah Hurts and Aggie/Agalice Lee Sims). Lee was born in Alexandria, Rapides, Louisiana, and was a Vietnam veteran. Jalen’s great-grandfather Elijah was born in Evergreen, Avoyelles, Louisiana, the son of James Hurts and Ida Franklin. Aggie was born in Boyce, Rapides, the daughter of Herbert Sims and Alice Boss. Alice’s paternal great-grandfather, Moses Scott, was born in Africa.
Jalen’s paternal grandmother is Cynthia Ruth Anderson (the daughter of Elmo William Anderson, Jr. and Ruth Mae Boyd). Cynthia was born in Harris County, Texas.
