James Zogby is the founder and president of the Arab American Institute (AAI). AAI is a non-profit membership organization, focusing on the issues and interests of Arab-Americans nationwide, and serves as a political and policy research arm of the Arab-American community. It is based in Washington, D.C.

James is the son of Salemi/Celia Ann and Joseph Zogby, who were born with the same surname. His father emigrated from Lebanon to the U.S. around 1922, and ran a successful grocery store. His mother was born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, to Lebanese parents. His family is Catholic. His brother, John Zogby, is a public opinion pollster, author, and public speaker, who founded pollster Zogby International.

James was married to Eileen P. McMahon, until her death, with whom he has five children.
