Jean Hale was an American actress. Her roles included the films Violent Midnight , Taggart , McHale’s Navy Joins the Air Force , The Oscar (1966), In Like Flint , and The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre , the series The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and Perry Mason , and the made-for-tv movie Lies Before Kisses .
She was the daughter of Doris Irene and Stanton Gudman Hale. She had three children, including songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Quincy Coleman, with her former husband, actor Dabney Coleman . She was raised LDS (Mormon).
Jean’s paternal grandfather was Heber Quincy Hale (the son of Solomon Henry Hale and Anna Clark). Heber was born in Thatcher, Idaho, and had deep roots in the U.S. Solomon was the son of Jonathan Harriman Hale and Olive Boynton. Anna was the daughter of Samuel Clark and Rebecca Garner.
Jean’s paternal grandmother was Bessie Elenora Gudmundson (the daughter of Såmund Gudmundsen Uppsund and Inger Auntine Olsen). Bessie was born in Springville, Utah, to Norwegian parents. Såmund was from Kviteseid, Telemark, the son of Gudmund Såmundsen and Mari Thomasdatter Omnes. Inger was from Skien, Telemark, the daughter of Hans Olsen and Gunhild Ougensdatter.
Jean’s maternal grandfather was Olive Edward Norell (the son of John Andrew Norell and Cristina Erickson). Oliver was born in Welch Township, Minnesota, to Swedish parents. John was the son of Aron Norell and Maria “Maja” Hakansdotter. Cristina was from Lekvattnet, Värmland, the daughter of Erik Jansson and Marit Olsdotter.
Jean’s maternal grandmother was Harriett V. “Hattie” Shaner (the daughter of James Franklin Shaner and Elenor Emelia Holliday). Hattie was born in Pennsylvania. James was the son of Samuel David Shaner and Harriet Brye, who were at least mostly of German descent. Elenor was the daughter of Henry Pennington Holliday and Esther Shriver Myers.
