Jean-Pierre Léaud is a French actor. A notable figure of the Nouvelle Vague (French New Wave), he is known for his work in the films of François Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard . He starred as Antoine Doinel, somewhat of an alter ego of Truffaut, in his films The 400 Blows , Antoine and Colette , Stolen Kisses , Bed and Board , and Love on the Run .

Jean-Pierre is the son of film and television actress Jacqueline Pierreux (Jacqueline Léone Madeleine Pierreux) and scenarist, novelist, and assistant director Pierre Léaud. His father was born in Rennes, Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany. His mother was born in Rouen, Normandy.

Jean-Pierre is married to actress Brigitte Duvivier.
