Jeffrey Hunter was an American film and television actor, and producer. He was the son of Edith Lois and Henry Herman McKinnies. His family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when he was a child. Jeffrey was married to actress Emily McLaughlin, until his death. He had a son with his former wife, actress Barbara Rush; and three children with his former wife, model Dusty Bartlett.

Except for his maternal grandfather and one of his maternal great-grandmothers, most of his lines go deep in the U.S. Through his ancestor, Elizabeth Bryant (1684-1757), Jeffrey was a descendant of Chief Wahanganoche.

Jeffrey’s paternal grandfather was William Daniel McKinnis (the son of Willis McKinnis and Dicey Jane Gwaltney). William was born in Wadesville, Posey, Indiana. Willis was born in Posey, the son of James McKinnis, whose parents were Scottish, with roots in Dunbartonshire; and of Jane Elkins. Dicey was born in Posey, the daughter of Benjamin Gwaltney, whose paternal grandmother was English; and of Sarah Murphy.

Jeffrey’s paternal grandmother was Ora Ethel Bradbury (the daughter of Charles Henry Bradbury and Marion Emeline Taylor). Ora was born in Williamson, Illinois, to parents who were also born in the state.

Jeffrey’s maternal grandfather was George Harry/Henry Jesse Burgess (the son of William Burgess and Elizabeth Taylor). George was born in Stockport, Cheshire, England. William was from Morley, Cheshire, and was the son of Peter/John Burgess and Catherine Kelsall. Elizabeth was from Bradwell, Derbyshire, and was the daughter of John Taylor.

Jeffrey’s maternal grandmother was Anna/Anne Hedwig Barnes (the daughter of William Taylor Barnes and Emma Johanna/Johanne Florentine Mollenkott). Anna was born in St. Louis, Missouri. William was born in Jackson, Arkansas, the son of Nathan Barnes and Timmandria/Tremendia Garner/Garnett, who were from Alabama. Jeffrey’s great-grandmother Emma was a German emigrant, from Lippstadt, North Rhine-Westphalia, the daughter of Johann Melchior Mollenkott and Sophie Margaretha Eleonore Lange.
