Jennifer Rush is an American pop and rock singer and songwriter. She achieved worldwide fame, particularly in the mid-1980s. Her best known song is “Power of Love” from 1984.
She is the daughter of Barbara and Maurice Stern, who is a prominent operatic tenor, voice teacher, and sculptor. Her brothers are professional musicians Robert “Bobby” Stern and Stephen Stern. She was partly raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She lived in Germany during some of her teenage years, while her father performed at Städtische Bühnen Flensburg; and later in Seattle, Washington, where her father was a professor.
Jennifer’s maternal grandfather was Frank Paul Cagnazzo (the son of Antonio Cagnazza and Giovanna Colora). Frank was born in Taranto, Provincia di Taranto, Puglia, Italy.
Jennifer’s maternal grandmother was Clorinda E. Polo (the daughter of John/Giovanni Pio Polo and Lucia “Lucy” Fabris/Tabrias). Clorinda was born in Forni di Sotto, Provincia di Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. Giovanni was the son of Ambrogio Polo and Luigia Marioni. Lucia was the daughter of Luigi Fabris and Pasqua Bisolitto.
